Student Workbook: Understanding the times Student Manual
4+ hours a week
This course will prepare students to interact with the various philosophies of popular culture in a thoughtful and insightful way. Students will examine six dominant worldviews of our age, Christianity, Islam, Secularism, Marxism, and New Spirituality. Not only will students master the big ideas behind these worldviews, but they will be invited into a dialogue where tough questions are welcomed. Throughout the year we will look at 10 different academic fields of study including Theology, Philosophy, Ethics, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Politics, Economics, History and how each may be presented through the lens of these worldviews. This class will give your student the knowledge needed to face a secular professor or a colleague of a different faith and be less likely to be taken captive by false philosophies and more likely to influence their generation for Christ. Together the students learn how to engage their culture and defend their faith with sound biblical theology and apologetics.
